This namesake chain of prolific Louisiana restaurateur Al Copeland has spread quickly since its 1983 opening. The Southern-charmed interior is a plantation setting with rich wood trim against warm-colored walls. Office mates stop in for quick lunches, but families take advantage of the reasonably priced kids menu at dinner. Copeland's wide-ranging menu has traditional fare like hamburgers and chicken melts, but is known for Creole and Cajun dishes such as eggplant pirogue and blackened chicken.

Great experience--we'll be back!. My husband and I went to Copelands for the first time over the weekend and it surpassed all of our expectations. As we waited to be seated, we had martinis at the bar--both were really good. The menu is substantial and has such a great variety. Prices are reasonable considering the portions are large and the quality is good. We were not rushed but our food was brought promptly and was hot. The service was impeccable and our server made several great recommendations on the appetizer (he suggested the remoulade sauce instead of the marinara and it was excellent) and the catfish dinner with crabmeat that my husband ordered--also excellent. We were looking for somewhere a little different to try and will definitely be back!
