Located next door to the Shakespeare Theater and a few blocks from the MCI center, Jaleo is teeming with activity almost every evening. Specializing in tapas, the restaurant rewards curious diners with scores of options and seasonal specialties. The flexibility of the tapas approach makes it a fun place for groups and families, giving everyone a chance to taste many things but still hoard a few favorites. There's also a bar area, with an extensive wine list and homemade sangria.

We always enjoy Jaleo's. Have eaten at Bethesda and DC locations and had good food at both. The Bethesda location is more relaxing (once you can find parking), whereas the DC location is good if you have a play or concert to attend afterwards. Not cheap eats, but also not too expensive for the quality. We usually order 3 or 4 dishes each and share. Don't skip dessert! They also will send promotions and birthday gifts via email if you sign up.

crystal city location. overpriced and sub standard food. as a spaniard and no stranger to spanish cuisine, i can honestly say this restaurant is an embarrassment to the spanish culture. i didn't realize it was a chain, or i would have avoided it. a pitcher of sangria was $27 and tasted like plain water with fruit in. paella ($42+)takes about 30 mins to bring out and was terrible as well. it was chicken and brown rice, rather than the traditional saffron (yellow) rice. our waiter was clueless, he said we could have some tapas while we waited for the paella, which goes against the whole point of having tapas as a meal. stay away from this place!

I love the DC and MD location. Both places offer great tapas and its easy to get carried away. The tapas are decently priced but because they are pretty cheap you end up ordering more and then your bill is much more expensive that you wanted. But the food is so good that you easily forget your high bar tab.
