Citysearch Editorial Review. In the space formerly occupied by the historic Hotel Washington, The W Hotel provides luxury accommodations next to the White House and is home to Bliss spa, J&G Steakhouse and the P.O.V. Roof Terrace and Lounge, famous for its D.C. views.

Great chic and Modern Hotel. Well, I had to stay at the dub again for the Congressional Black Caucus convention last week. I checked in on Thursday and the staff even remembers me from the month prior. I had a room with a cool view of 15th street. The bell man was so floored that I handed him a tip because I forgot the last time he bought my boyfriend and I drinks. The roof top was humming and the great thing is I didn’t have to wait in line. I grabbed a seat in side because all of the tables at POV were full. My friend and I had a Dark and Stormy (Yummy) and a long Island Ice Tea. After leaving the hotel to attended some of the evenings events we came back to the hotel and where greeted warmly. The next morning I headed to the state of the art workout room and gave it a go. I love this place. However, tell the local Washington, DC City government to stop killing us on the room tax. Will I stay again? Sure when I come back to DC. This spot is the bomb!

The city's oldest continually operated hotel, steps away from the White House.. Features
Hotel Washington has a signature location just across the street from the White House, and bills itself as the oldest continually operated hotel in the District of Columbia. The lobby has marble-topped tables and green velvet chairs set up to look out over the White House and the nearby Treasury Building.

Amenities
Plaster moldings and classical friezes complete the scene. Rooms are on the small side, furnished in dusty rose. Carved-wood poster beds, matching carved mirrors and period furnishings add an antique elegance to the accommodations, but such modern amenities as dataports and marble bathrooms are present as well. Even if you don't stay at the Hotel Washington, try to stop off at its rooftop deck for dinner or a drink. The view of the city, with the Washington Monument on one side and the White House on the other, is unparalleled.
