view & uploadmiddle of the road quality. Lalibela is the only Ethiopian place in that immediate neighborhood, but it's not really that great, and not that authentic. It's often full midday with Ethiopians, so I was initially optimistic, but then disappointed. Having eaten 2x my body weight in Ethiopian food, both there and in DC, I would recommend 18th street or U/9th street, unless you're already at 14th and P and are jonesing for some Ethiopian...
Authentic Ethiopian on the Red Line.
This is a really great location to get Ethiopian food for anyone who works downtown or lives on the Red Line, because you don't have to hike all the way over to U Street or transfer lines to get to the Green.
The food is really good and if you don't really know what to order, just tell the wait staff what you like and they'll bring you out something. I once told my waitress I wanted something spicy, saucy, and with lamb and she nodded and brought out two really great dishes.
Ask to sit on the patio on nice days; this is a very busy street and it's fun to people watch. Also, the honey wine is very, very good.
