Named after the founding owner's grandmother and aunt, Meeps (originally on U Street) opened in 1992 and has been selling cheap, chic vintage clothes, costumes, and local designs ever since. Check out the "Local Focus" racks for tees by Washington designer Sharp Shirter, or the large vintage selection--women’s items up front, men's clothes in the back. Wigs are sold year-round, and many of the louder vintage pieces could certainly qualify as costumes. Costume jewelry--both vintage and new, local designs--are also a big draw.
