One of the few dive bars in Dupont Circle.
The Big Hunt is a low-lit, safari-themed, tiny little dive right off the Red Line. It features really cheap beer and bar food---.15 cent wings and $3 pints---and feels like a bar that belongs on H Street, rather than in the heart of Dupont Circle.
It caters to the jeans and t-shirt type crowd and is wholly unpretentious. It can be a little dirty though; the bathrooms are a mess, the stairs need some maintenance, and the crowd is on the young side and can get a bit rowdy. I saw a chick throw up on the third floor once and it wasn't pretty.
If you're a single girl though, this is a really good place to have a beer and talk to guys. It's also a good spot to have a happy hour with a bunch of friends.
In the summer, try to take over the third floor patio. It's a small space, but ideal for warm summer nights.
Citysearch Editorial Review. Just off the south end of Dupont Circle, The Big Hunt is a popular after-work standby; 27 beers on tap in addition to a digital juke box, pool tables and tiki torch decorated patio keep regulars coming back to catch the game or to partake in amazing happy hour deals.
