Citysearch Editorial Review. With all the dusty hardwood charm of a real British public house, Mackey’s on L Street is the perfect place to escape the workday. Whether drowning stress in the specialty Irish ales, or catching up with friends over mounded plates of house chips (French fries), one gets the feel of Dublin without the jet lag. The experience inside is varied; sit at the broad mirrored bar which serves up the full menu, or choose a cozy book nook away from the glare of the Guinness signs. The Irish experience is carried out via cuisine as well; the staple corned beef and cabbage, fish and chips, and steak and mushroom pie are interspersed with some unexpected pleasures, including quesadillas and a wicked pulled-chicken BBQ.
