Horrible Service (Verizon Center Location). Horrible service and worst experience I've ever had in a hair salon. Thanks to really bad traffic I was 10 minuets late (I know that part is my fault) and they cancelled my appointment for a haircut, wash & blow dry and couldn't even fit me in for just the wash & blow dry even though I offered to pay extra for it (I had a date that night) and there was enough time in the appointment left for it. I was desperate for a haircut so I rescheduled for the next morning. The next morning they kept me waiting 15 minutes past my appointment time with no apology, then kept me sitting for another 5+ mins in the hair wash chair and then complained that my hair was too thick and that I should have scheduled a longer appointment than the 30 minutes they give for a haircut. After exactly 30 mins (including the 5+ mins they left me sitting in the hair wash chair) the stylist passed me off to an assistant to finish off and was very rude to me. I was a first time customer and never was told that a) it was only a 30 min appointment (who has appts that short?) or b) that I may want to schedule a longer appointment if I have hair longer than shoulder length (if they had told me in advance and given me all that info, I would have scheduled a longer appt in a heartbeat because the last thing I want is an annoyed stylist and their assistant working quickly on my hair). in the end I didn't even get the stylist to work on my hair for the full 30 minutes. Extremely disapointed by the rude treatment & I'm never going again and recomend to all my friends that they don't waste their time either. There are enough other good salons in DC that know how to treat their customer well and fairly.
Heather is the best!.
I have been to nearly every hair salon in DC in search of someone who can cut and color my hair. Literally, everywhere -- from PR at Partners, to Bubbles (low point), to DC Style Lab (great but far too expensive!)
I have dark blonde hair that is very susceptible to getting too golden if the highlight/lowlight combination isn't just right. And, it's fine in texture but plentiful.
Heather at Bang on U Street is the first person in the city who's given me a cut and color I left the salon really liking. She understood my need for lowlights, and she listened (actually listened) when I said I did not want layers.
Bang's services are among the cheapest in the city -- it's a good bargain. And it's extremely convenient from the U Street metro or any of the S buses that run up and down 16th Street.
Know that Bang's online booking system can be tricky: If the stylist you want to see isn't available on the day you pick, it will automatically change the date to the next available day. I've turned up on the wrong day a couple of times. So, double check your appointment time.
