Tips for Zengo D.c.

Citysearch Editorial Review. This Penn Quarter restaurant from celebrity chef Richard Sandoval is often a “big night out” destination; the colorful, chic decor, lively ambiance, fresh cocktails and intriguing combination of Latin and Asian cuisine always feel festive.

Excellent Fusion Food in Gallery Place. I've probably passed by Zengo at Gallery Place Metro hundreds of times, but for whatever reason, never noticed it. Big mistake. I ate here randomly the other day and wished I had discovered it sooner. The service was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable, and the food was fresh and fun. I had simply the best mojito ever; try the cucumber variety, you won't regret it. I ordered softshell crab tacos and they were the perfect blend of crab and spice; just really, really good. Nothing I had here disappointed.

Pretty Good Fusion Cuisine. The whole fusion food scene can get played out at times but Zengo succeeds in keeping it chic with its decor and it's very affordable specials. I like their happy hour offerings: $5 cocktails and small plates from 5-7pm, even on Saturdays. They also have a $10 bento box deal for lunch, which is a steal in DC. The food itself is quite tasty and interesting even. Zengo's cuisine is an interesting mix of Latin and Asian so you'll see unique dishes like won ton tacos and hoisin pork arepas. I've had their tandoori chicken hot box which is quite satisfying: the tandoori chicken didn't taste very authentic but it was good; it came with rice and sauteed spinach which was flavorful but a bit on the salty side. Try the drinks if you go here - they do make a delicious margarita.
