Awesome Noodles & Rice Bowls.
Not that DC is lacking in the Thai/Chinese/Japanese/Pan-Asian department, but I certainly think Bangkok Joe's brings a lot of great things to the Georgetown area. For starters, awesome noodle dishes - their Drunken Chicken is a twinge sweet and a little bit more spicy at the same time and has plenty of chicken pieces with those great flat-rice noodles. I'm a big fan of their Drunken Seafood Lo Mein, which has tons of squid, mussels, scallops and shrimp along with sauteed vegetables and a sweetish, flavorful sauce. Their dumplings are also excellent; the pork and crab shu mai is as good as most of the dim sum places I've been to in the area (can't ever get enough of that dipping sauce too). Their Thai Iced Coffee is ok - they give you the coffee with the milk and syrup on the side, which works if you know the right ratio to make yourself a good Thai Iced Coffee. But folks like myself who don't know the right ratio might appreciate having it made for them instead. Service is fairly good, though not outwardly friendly and dishes are served with quite a bit of time in between. Expect to take your time here, but you'll enjoy it if you like pan-asian cuisine.
