Best/Most Authentic Jerk Chicken in Town. Sweet Mango Cafe was located about two blocks from my house is Petworth. The smell of the cooking food permeates the block. It's like a lure!

The jerk chicken is fantastic! It's the best recipe jerk I've ever had. I've tried Carribean food all over the place and none have compared to Sweet Mango. The spices are present throughout the meat and the flavor is really deep. It's hard to pick out the individual elements, because they are so perfectly blended. Delicious.

Once, I thought they had double-charged me for something. When I went to ask about it, the manager said he'd be sure to check for me and was very pleasant. He was so nice, that I figured while I was there I might as well order something. He discounted my meal heavily. He didn't even know if it was my mistake or theirs! He was simply exihibiting great customer service.

The place is usually packed in the evenings and on weekends and it's well-earned.

The only downside is that occasionally, because they are so popular the quality control slips a little. White rice, because they are out of rice and peas. An inconsistent vegetable medley. Little things.

I left DC last year, and it's one of the the things I miss the most. Definitely, worth a visit. Give these people your business! You will be rewarded with tastiness.
