Best sourthern food in DC!.
Where do I even start for Acadiana?! First off, I've only been during Restaurant Week (mad busy) and they still had AMAZING customer service (both at the bar and once seated at our table). They extended happy hour until 7 for RW, too! I'd recommend getting there for HH, some of the wine is only $4/glass, and all apps and specialty cocktails are 1/2 off (!). I had the Basil Belle cocktail & fried green tomatoes, and can't wait to go back for more!
Anyway, the food is really what I want to write about! The biscuits & warm butter (with a spicy jelly ontop!) they serve you to start with are DELICIOUS. The gumbo and the deviled egg trio are two really yummy appetizers (if you're into that kind of thing). Their entrees are heavy on the seafood. They have traditional (shrimp & grits) and some dishes with a southern twist (red snapper ontop of a cheddar sponge cake!). There were 3 of us, so we ordered each of the RW desserts - glad we did! they were AWESOME! Bread pudding, melt in your mouth Creme Brulee, and Chocolate cake with a scoop of banana ice cream (it wasn't too banana-y tasting, which was good for me!).
All in all, an EXCELLENT experience. We also found out they offer a 3-course dinner EVERY MONDAY NIGHT for $35, and they offer the WHOLE menu... can't wait to go back!
Fantastic southern fusion.
Acadiana is a high end concept restaurant focusing on the cuisines of Louisiana. The restaurant delivers not only in its multitude of flavors, but also in its fine presentation. If one is looking for authentic Cajun/Creole cuisines, this is not the place to go. However, if the experience one desires is a creative expression that more resembles an homage to the culinary talents of Louisiana, then Acadiana can provide a wonderful experience.
Although I enjoyed everything I have sampled at Acadiana, I believe their standout dish was a redfish concoction served with spicy jambalaya. I was also impressed with their rendition of creme brulee.
All in all a great spot for a date or a special occasion!
A Good Taste of New Orleans in DC. I've been to Acadiana on several different occasions and have been impressed every time. The service is fairly good - not outwardly friendly or anything, but they're good about checking on you and giving suggestions. The food makes up for it however. They have a pre-fixe brunch that is SO much food but completely worth it at $29. You can get an appetizer, entree and dessert. They offer a good range of classic New Orleans dishes like jambalaya and etouffee. Their dinner menu is just as impressive, although much pricer at over $20 per entree. Their New Orleans style barbeque shrimp is excellent - spicy, succulent, and comes with bread to soak up the delicious broth that the shrimp is served in. Acadiana is definitely great for a date or a place to quietly celebrate an occasion, especially if you have some cash to spare.
