Do not get a pregnancy massage at this place!!!!.
I went to the Canary Orchid retreat in Falls Church for a pregnancy massage and had an awful experience. When I got there they had me fill out the paperwork and let them know the areas of the body I'd like them to concentrate the most. I wrote down neck and back. The massage started, and Al, the massage therapist had me lie on my back for 50 minutes even though I wrote down the area I needed massaging was my back. Then last 5-10 minutes of the treatment he briefly massaged my back. By that time, lying on my back for 50 minutes produced even more pain than I was originally in. He also turned the heat on the massaging table, which later I found out was not good for pregnant women. Overall, the massage was excruciating, and a complete waste of money.
When I called the owner to complain about my experience, the owner didn't believe me at all and stated that Al, the massage therapist is actually the manager and one of the best she has. It’s possible that he may do a good job for non-prenatal massages, but prenatal massages are definitely not something he should be doing. The owner also sarcastically wished me luck and told me that I should not have been getting a massage at all if I had a pain in my back ??????
So, if you are pregnant, do not go for a prenatal massage to this place (or if you absolutely have to, make sure you do not get it with Al)!!!!! Otherwise you will waste $90. There are so many spas in DC area that provide much better massages for the same price. I went to Sugar House in Old Town Alexandria and had an amazing experience.
