Fun and unique drinks. You'll definitely earn cool points if you take someone here for the first time. I've only ever sat at a table inside, so I can't speak much about the outdoor patio or bar.

I love that you can tell them what kind of liquor you like and how you like it (fruity, strong, etc.) and they'll surprise you. It's like Christmas for big kids. Also, they don't have any problem with you sending back your drink if you don't like it. The only drink I've ordered from the menu was the Bold as Love (in the "Fizz" section)which I loved (but my friends hated). It had absinthe in it and tasted a bit minty.

The inside is very hip yet intimate and not too loud, which makes it a perfect spot for a date or to just catch up with friends.

Quiet, friendly and relaxing. I have been to the Gibson a handful of times and always enjoyed it. If it is nice outside, the outdoor tables in the back are a great option, although you don't have the same opportunities to chat with the bartender and ask them for experimental drinks.

I love the fact that they won't let people stand at the bar, it makes your time there feel so much less rushed and there is no one standing and yelling at the bartender from behind you. Whenever I tell them that I want a drink that "is like x, y or z" I have been pleasantly surprised with the outcome.

Although there is usually a long wait if you don't have a reservation, they will text your cell phone once your table is ready. This is great as it gives you the option of heading someplace nearby for a drink while you wait!

U Street hip spot. Friends of mine took me out here. We started outside. Mistake. The back has a very limited drink menu and very little ambiance. So we moved inside.

Boy were we glad! The inside was really neat. Waitress friendly and drinks amazing.

As others have noted this is one of those trendy prohibition themed bars, which are generally really dark, and completely unlabeled from the street. Good time with friends though.
