Cozy wine bar for small plates, dessert.
Room 11 is a great, quiet spot for conversation and a few relaxed glasses of wine. It's cozy inside -- maybe 10 people can fit along the bar, with 10 more max along the windows -- but the awesome outdoor patio at least doubles that space. PRO: the patio is heated in the winter.
Room 11 has widened its food offerings since it opened, but the paninis and desserts really stand out. Daily offerings from local DC bakery Paisley Pig are inventive -- try the goat cheesecake, it's delicious!
One thing you might not count on is speedy service. Everything here is relaxed, and I've never had a quick meal here. Once, I even had to cancel an order because it took too long and I had to leave for other plans.
But that's a big part of its charm; you don't feel rushed to free up a table. If you have plenty of time to relax on a great patio or in a cozy window nook inside, Room 11 is a great spot.
Citysearch Editorial Review. Amid the hipster hangouts and discount retailers of Columbia Heights is Room 11--an intimate, straightforward wine bar with small plates (wild boar pate) and an always-tempting dessert menu--the ice cream flavors are particularly unique (red hot chocolate and maple walnut).
