Disturbing Experience. Horrible experience and will never go back! My friends and I organized a going away party for our friend here. At one point, the guest of honor was dancing in a restricted area. Rather than tell her to just get down, two GIANT security guards picked her up out of nowhere (keep in mind she's a 5'1 girl) and forcibly removed her from the bar. They held her so aggressively that she now has huge bruises all over her arms. They handled her so roughly that her dress was pulled up, exposing her underwear, and even though she protested they wouldn't pull her dress down. When we tried to tell the bouncers outside what happened, they scoffed at us and told us to leave. The next day I called the manager to complain, and although he apologized and said he would talk to those responsible, he never called me back as he had promised. I am infuriated because I know that these men are not going to face any consequences, which is why I wanted to share this story.
Upscale Sports Bar with Great Rooftop. Not only is public bar a fresh face on the block offering the golden triangle area a clean and fun sports-bar but in the summer it also allows party-goers to enjoy the refreshing rooftop area, a definite bonus for any D.C. bars. I have not had a bad experience yet at public bar. I highly recommend their cheese-steaks and tower beers the next time you and your group want to go somewhere to watch the game.
Citysearch Editorial Review. Public Bar is an upscale club, neighborhood eatery and sports fanatic's dream rolled into one. With 40 high-definition televisions, pregame drink specials and vintage sports paraphernalia adorning the walls, it's a jock haven. Designed to blend the best aspects of a neighborhood bar into one place, it's also a big nightlife attraction, even on nights without the big game. Girls can hit the dance floor or get drinks in the lounge while the guys hit up the roof deck ("sky box") or catch important replays over beer and bar food--such as garlic fries and nachos--on the first level dubbed "courtside." By Thursday night the place is in full swing with DJs rocking the dance floor until last call Saturday.
