Tips for Iron Horse Tap Room

A Biker Bar Without all the Bikers. I don't think I've ever seen a biker at Iron Horse, but whatever. Penn Quarter isn't exactly Hells Angels central. But Iron Horse Tap Room does a great job of capturing the biker bar atmosphere, with a bit of nostalgic fun. The downstairs area features skeeball and other games and there's plenty of space to relax and drink. Think of it as a newer and bit more mature RocketBar. Overall, it's a good spot to get your drink and game on.

Biker Bar fun for all types of partiers. When Iron Horse first opened I was immediately drawn to their unique biker decor and muscular/tattooed bouncers. A sister bar to Rocket Bar, the owners played on the same concept of a bar with fun games leaving out the kitchen. The upstairs offers a open area with a large bar and a few couches for sitting, downstairs is where the fun is. Challenge your friends in skeeball while you enjoy the motorcycle decor throughout the entire place. Its a fun new hotspot in Penn Quarter offering customers a little more fun than a typical bar in D.C.

Skee ball and motorcycles. Somehow this place was under the radar, at least for me. Went here Saturday night with little expectations as just another DC, over crowded bar. Boy, was I wrong! Upstairs is a more quiet bar area but we spent all of our time downstairs.

We played a lot of skee ball! We were also able to snag a table without a problem. Loved the laid-back atmosphere and motorcycle decor. They were actually hanging from the ceiling! I enjoyed it here and will have to keep it in mind for future reference.

Citysearch Editorial Review. At first glance, this Gallery Place watering hole might look like a biker bar--the bouncers tend to be heavily tattooed, and there are actual motorcycles in the window as well as suspended from the ceiling--but it's more of a bro-friendly game bar with a focus on beer and entertainment options such as shuffleboard, Skee-ball and a high-end juke box. While the motorcycles themselves may skew more toward rock-and-roll than Hunter S. Thompson, the focus on beer is serious; 19 drafts are available up and downstairs, with a selection of crafts--such as Chimay Red Dubbel--in addition to the usual stuff. Overall, Iron Horse is a combination of what Gallery Place bars do best: beers, games, and plenty of space in which to enjoy them.
