Tips for The Cereal Bowl

3.0
July 01, 2010

Sometimes you just want some cereal. You might like toast, but never buy bread. You might, want to eat just one egg, but never buy them by the dozen. Occasionally, you might even want a bowl of cereal, but rather than spending four dollars on some sugary goodness that quickly goes stale you can spend the same money on just one bowl.

The Cereal Bowl meets the demand for an occasional crunch of Kix or Fruity Pebbles. I went there recently around 9:30 one night and was amazed at how many people were out eating cereal. The fruit toppings are fresh, the Lucky Charm marshmallows delightfully dry and chalky, and the staff pleasant.

There is no good answer to those who would ask what the point is of a place that specializes in cereal. However, for those who just want to enjoy a nice snack before a movie, after the zoo, or en route home, the Cereal Bowl will leave you with a bit of sugary, possibly rainbow colored, milk and sense of contentment.

Citysearch Editorial Review. The Cereal Bowl is a unique, low-key shop where patrons are encouraged to eat like a kid again. Think PJs, Saturday morning cartoons and all the sugary cereal your 8-year-old self desires. Mom is long gone though, folks, and here the adults encourage patrons to layer their Golden Grams with crazy unconventional toppings such as gummy worms, spiced apples, Oreos, M&Ms, and cookie dough. The menu features eight tried and true already-made cold-cereal combos for those not wanting to venture out on their own. But the Cereal Bowl isn’t just cereal. The restaurant also offers frozen yogurt, oatmeal, parfaits, milkshakes, juices and a coffee and espresso bar. Go nuts.
