Tips for Fort Dupont Park

May 10, 2010

Citysearch Editorial Review. This 376-acre park maintained by the National Park Service is one of D.C.'s largest parks. The grounds include multi-purpose recreational fields, tennis courts, basketball courts, picnic areas, and even community gardens, which began in 1974 on land formerly used as a golf course. The park also hosts a variety of events, including Civil War programs, ice skating, sports, youth activities the Fort Dupont Summer Concert Series. This park is linked to surrounding forts--together with Dupont known as the Civil War Defenses of Washington--by a seven-mile trail that is popular with hikers and bikes.
