The Marine Corps War Memorial, which depicts the famous incident at Iwo Jima during WWII, commemorates those U.S. Marines who have lost their lives in defense of our nation since 1775. Erected in 1954, the monument stands outside the walls of the Arlington National Cemetery, roughly six blocks from the Rosslyn Metro.
