Citysearch Editorial Review. "Top Chef" Spike Mendelsohn was already famous for his Capitol Hill burger joint Good Stuff Eatery, known both for its food and for clientele like Michelle Obama, and his We, the Pizza is a welcome neighbor. Find subs, salads and spaghetti on the menu, but the focus is on pizza pies--whole or by the slice--in styles from simple cheese to spinach and artichoke. Each pie is served on star-spangled parchment paper befitting the all-American feel, and thicker--though still perfectly crispy--crusts are a nice change from the city's ubiquitous Neapolitan-style pies. With food in hand, follow the wall adorned in pie pans up the stairs and into the self-seat dining room, where the "we" theme is emphasized with posters of the local charities--such as DC Central Kitchen--that the restaurant supports.
