Shoehorned into the former residence and office of the late Dr. Granville Moore, this H Street restaurant and self-described "gastropub with a healthy Belgian fetish" offers specialties from executive chef Teddy Folkman, such as big, steaming bowls of creatively seasoned mussels and crispy twice-fried frites paired with dips like truffle aioli and horseradish crème. The selection of complex, flavorful Belgian beers is equally notable and sure to impress even hardened beer snobs; the list features more than 60 Belgian saisons, tripels and lambics--six on draft--lovingly hand-picked by beverage director Pat McMonagle. The atmosphere in the often-packed restaurant goes beyond a simple gastropub; dim lighting and rustic decor give the small space an intimate, energetic atmosphere that's as appropriate for a date as relaxing solo with a brew.
