Best Confectionery in DC. ACKC's interior is distractingly bright and very red, but the tastes of their chocolates are just as loud and vibrant. This place is perfect for boyfriends looking for gifts for their ladies, ladies looking to get their chocolate fix, students looking for a place to study and nosh on pastries...there are plenty of good reasons to just come here and buy something and more likely than not, you'll enjoy it. I'm a fan of their wide array of hot cocoas, all named after Hollywood divas and each customized with unique flavors like white chocolate and blueberry or dark chocolate and almond. Allow yourself to splurge on one of their pastries or ice cream if the hot chocolate isn't too much for you. And definitely buy a box of their signature chocolates to eat later at home.
Citysearch Editorial Review. Artfully Chocolate Kingsbury Confections--or ACKC for short--is the brainchild of two Alexandria men, chocolatier Rob Kingsbury and artist Eric Nelson. Their shared love of chocolate, art and Hollywood leading ladies led to this 14th Street chocolate shop and cocoa bar. The cocoa bar features an extensive menu of hot chocolates named after the silver screen's sassiest divas. Truffles, other chocolate-themed confections and more traditional cafe items such as panini are available. The art deco tables, twinkling lights and paintings of Marilyn Monroe make this D.C.'s answers to Serendipity III--a movie starring John Cusack can't be far behind.
