Quality Coffee Near Capitol Hill. Most folks in DC know Peregrine as the spot to get the best coffee or espresso in the area. For that reason, I've come to expect to always have a bit of a wait to order and receive my drinks and to never plan on sitting and hanging out there. But on the occasional stroll or shopping trip through Eastern Market, it's hard to avoid swinging by to grab a latte. It seems like the people behind Peregrine's counter are particular about the craft of coffee and aren't concerned with offering a huge array of complicated drinks (yes, I'm looking at you, Starbucks). I like that I can get a good, strong latte or mocha that's not sugary or overly chocolatey. But with options generally smaller than chain coffee stores at around $4 a pop, many may find that Peregrine doesn't entirely offer bang for buck. I'm not looking for a giant cup of coffee usually, just something strong enough to wake me up. So in that sense, I think Peregrine is worth stopping by whenever I'm in the area.
