Great Find.
I found this place when looking for Free Wi-Fi, that was opened late, not a chain, and served acutal food. And that is what I found. Honestly, this place is awesome. The Paninis are really good.
When I got here, the network was down for a little bit and for some reason Vista wouldn't let me get back on. The guy felt bad, so I got a free MUFFIN! How is that for customer service? You don't get that much anymore, huh?
I will be back again and again. Great find!!
Very Notable Place.
Ok, my friend always makes fun of me for my forays at this place- but I am totally addicted! I love the food, the vibe, and the spiced latte! The WiFi is fast and consistent, and they are always open late (think 11pm or 12am usually?).
As a testament to how often I come here- the staff greets me with a "welcome back!" or a "I haven't seen you in a day, how have you been?". I am a sucker for customer service and this place nails it.
I have tried most everything on the menu- and have never had less than a satisfying experience. The Roast Beef/Turkey sandwich with brie is a personal favorite, as is the Creamy Chicken Pasta. And of course, the spiced latte (cinnamon, nutmeg, honey, espresso, and milk...yumm).
Prices are incredibly reasonable, and the fact that I have stayed here for hours and never been given less than effusive service is notable as well.
Great open late place.
Steam is a straight forward, unpretentious place with a very friendly staff. (I concur, the guy who is always behind the cash register is a nice guy) . I like the fact that it holds long hours -- very long hours.
There are so few late night non-alcohol serving joints in Dupont, let alone DC in general, so any place that is open *past* midnite on a weekday gets MASSIVE points for me.
Seriously. 5 stars right there!
BEST PLACE. It was my 1st time at steam cafe and I was pretty impressed by the service , the food quality , I had their penne milano , that was very tasty , and verrry flaverful, I also tried their house spicy capuccino, that was one of the best I ' ve evvver had,I highly recommend this cost spot, I'm defenetly going back .for free wifi lovers it's a great place that combines delecious food and fast wifi connection .
Going back for sure.
Reading the reviews of this place made me crazy hungry, especially Chloe F's description of the vegetable crepe... so I up & went down there and got me one.
Um, good.
It was the best crepe I have had in forever. Not since Crepes A Go Go have I seen its equal.
The other reports of how nice the staff are also quite accurate. I was astonished that everyone in there, even the guy up on a ladder hanging a sign, said goodbye to me as I left. It was like a backwards Irasshaimase.
Which would be Esamiahssari. Which would look like Finnish. Or Estonian, maybe.
Where was I? O right. They seemed to be positively singing from the rooftops that they wanted you bring in your laptop - on the door there's a sign that says NOW! FASTER WIRELESS THAN THOSE PUNKS UP THE STREET!
Actually it just said that their wireless had gotten faster, but point being, they definitely grok the idea that wireless can bring in business, savvy, that.
Anyway, will go back for sure.
(PS, I parked next to the gigantizor Freemasonry Museum on 16th and S. Holy Dan Brown conspiracy theories, kids, at night that place looks like it's straight outta Gotham.)
Great for Studying. I can't believe I've never reviewed this place before, as it was my trusty default study place. Can't think in my Dupont Circle apartment? Walk over to Steam. Need somewhere to study and eat late at night? Walk over to Steam. Other coffeeshops closed? Yeah you get the idea.
Friendly!!. "The staff here is always uber friendly and eager to please. As well, a nice place to take the pup and have him sit next to you while you eat at one of their outside tables. The salient part of this review was the addition of the pizza ovens and new pizza parlor as a part of the restaurant that occupy one of the glass counters where they used to sell baked goods. I tried a slice and was impressed."
