One of several indoor marketplaces that once used to serve the city, Eastern Market is an architectural landmark and an anchor of the Capitol Hill neighborhood just to the east of the Mall. The vast hall is filled with a number of permanent vendors and food stalls, but it's the lunch counter that draws big lines for its fish sandwiches, hamburgers and various fried foods. On Sundays, area farmers and craftspeople set up tables and stalls on the the grounds outside, which makes it like a flea market and neighborhood block party all in one.…
